Five Ways We Use Essential Oils
Being a Mama, I am always looking for the more natural and healthy ways to take care of my family. It is down right frightening all the chemicals, synthetics, and carcinogens put into products these days. One of the ways I keep my family healthy, is by using essential oils. I love sharing my love of essential oils with people. Yet, more often than not, most people don't know how to use essential oils, or even what essential oils are.
With this in mind, I thought I would share five simple ways that my family uses essential oils.
1. Lemon.
"Would you like lemon in your water?" Nothing is more refreshing than lemon in your water, right? One drop of lemon essential oil into a glass of water, turns boring old water into a refreshing treat. I am finding I drink significantly more water now that I add lemon essential oil into all my water. Lemon has many known uses, including being known to be a antibacterial agent. 2. Rosemary.
My husband works two jobs. He sits at a desk, staring at a computer screen all day. Often, he comes home complaining of a neck/head ache. I always break out my Rosemary, because it is known to help muscle pain. I massage three drops of Rosemary on his neck (followed by a couple of drops of Lavender on his temples to encourage him to relax), and then place a cool washcloth over his eyes. Let's just say my husband LOVES these oils. He feels amazing afterwards. Read more about Rosemary here.
3. Lavender.
Lavender has an amazing aromatic scent that is very relaxing. Before bed, I will massage Lavender dilluted with coconut oil on my 11 month old daughters feet to encourage her to relax. I also use this oil in my moisturizer at night (1/2 teaspoon of coconut oil, and 3-4 drops of Lavender). This oil would also be great to add to bath water to help you unwind after a long day. 4. Essential Oil Blend.
We use a blend of cinnamon, clove bud, wild orange, eucalyptus, and rosemary everyday on the bottoms of our feet. This blend of oils has been known to help boost immunity and offer immunity support. This blend of oils is one I cannot live without. It is such a comfort to know I have this around during cold and flu season. We put one drop on each foot every day. 5. Grapefruit.
This is by far my favorite smelling oil. I LOVE grapefruit! I put grapefruit in my water, and it tastes amazing! This would be a wonderful oil to diffuse to make your home smell fresh. It has also been known to help in aiding in weight loss. To read more about Grapefruit, click here.
I hope this gives a little bit of insight into the wide world of essential oils! This site is a great resource if you are searching for a specific oil and it's uses.
